Studying to become a medical qigong practitioner in the International Institute of Medical Qigong curriculum is an integrated step-by-step process. Each class, internship, and experience builds on the others— helping you to evolve as a healer with a deep range of internal energy skills. When thoroughly accomplished, IIMQ training prepares you to work in an integrated health care delivery system.
Open to all health care professionals, students of Traditional, Classical, and Five Element Chinese Medicine (TCM), and those interested in Chinese energetic medicine, the IIMQ offers a multi-level certification program designed to teach the theory and practical application of Medical Qigong Therapy.
With knowledge gathered by IIMQ founder Professor Jerry Alan Johnson and augmented by the IIMQ's executive director Dr. Bernard Shannon, the certification programs offered by the IIMQ are based upon the curriculum of the Medical Qigong College at Hai Dian University and used clinically at the Xi Yuan Medical Qigong Hospital in Beijing, China.
Emphasis will be placed on both the analytical/deductive and intuitive/perceptive approaches to comprehending and utilizing Medical Qigong Therapy for cultivation, regulation and clinical application. The experiential aspect of the course is well balanced with a solid theoretical foundation.
Study at Oregon Medical Qigong includes training in quiescence: Buddhist sitting and Daoist standing meditations. Sitting meditation ripens qualities of peace and stability, clarity, and potency or strength of the mind. The nature of the mind, discovered through sitting, is said to be open and radiant, the best ground for healing self and others.
The IIMQ Medical Qigong Practitioner (MQP) and Medical Qigong Therapist (MQT) programs are also taught at:
- Five Branches College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Santa Cruz, California)
- Academy for
Five Element Acupuncture in (Gainesville, Florida)
- University of Quebec at Three Rivers (Montreal, Canada) for the Royal Society of Acupuncturists
Certification courses at Oregon Medical Qigong are available as seminar intensive, residential semester, and private instruction training formats.
